Story
After the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, makes a play to take over the criminal underworld in Gotham. Aside from a bat signal in the final shot of the season finale, we never got ours. In this short video, IMDb tries to answer: Where the hell was Batman?.

Colin Farrell fought hard to get his version of The Penguin to smoke a cigarette in The Batman (2022), but it didn’t work out. In his own series, however, the character is depicted as a casual smoker who favors cigars. The umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros.

I thought Colin Farrell was great as the Penguin in Batman, but I’ve never understood the appeal of taking a skinny good-looking actor and putting him in a massive prosthetic and a thick suit… especially when I think he looks like other famous actors who would have been just as good. I also didn’t really understand why this spinoff was coming, and honestly, I’m just sick of the Batman reboot.

But after episode 1, I can confirm that this show is amazing (so far). I only watched it knowing that the bridge between the first and second movies was a must-watch, and to my surprise, I enjoyed Farrell’s role in the first. The acting is great, the writing is great, and it surprised me with its quick twists and turns.
The biggest thing I liked was that there was a lot more color in this than in Batman
I noticed it almost immediately, because that was a huge complaint about the movie for me (it felt like I was watching it through a Zack Snyder lens). I hope this continues to be as good as it is because I really can’t wait for the next episode.
