Story
When maple syrup farmer Ruth Landry finds her livelihood under attack from greedy rivals who were once her friends, she devises a plan of revenge and a shakeup of the industry. a storage facility in Quebec; five people were sentenced to prison. In rural Quebec, Ruth Landry (Margo Martindale) struggles to maintain her maple orchard while her husband is in a coma.
The tyrannical head of the association, Leonard Sr
trying to steal his property on the cheap. Remy Bouchard (Guillaume Cyr) is a frustrated lone guard at the association’s warehouse. Mike Byrne (Chris Diamantopoulos) is a low-level Bagman in a Boston mob family.
Fargo is strong here
Like that franchise, this could have been a movie or a TV show. It also has snow, quirky criminals and small town people, and even a true/not true story. The tribute has been paid.
Another problem is the language barrier
The cast is led by the greatness of Margo Martindale and the slightly troubled Chris Diamantopoulos. In the beginning, I am concerned about two things that hold it back somewhat. The story is inherently silly and I’m not sure the Fargo treatment is worth it.
It takes some getting used to
Despite the slow start, the show leaves me wanting more.. "One Hundred Years of Solitude" is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month. See more in our December calendar!
